He tells the young mutants that they are protesting something called Project Genesis. The New Mutants don't know that Laurie is working undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. and she informs on them. The Hellions show up to kill the terrorists but the New Mutants stand in the way. Surge gets the drop on Magik and forces her to teleport them to Project Genesis. It turns out to be an inhumane experiment to give normal humans mutations. The Hellions decide to join the New Mutants in destroying the project.
