Back in 1989, DC Comics opted not to publish an issue of Swamp Thing by Rich Veitch and Michael Zulli largely because of a controversial storyline that saw the titular hero meet Jesus Christ. Now, 36 years later, DC is finally releasing the story in its original form.
After shelving the book in 1989, Veitch and those involved in the lost storyline quit the book. Decades later, DC Comics is bringing the issue to print and will complete the four-issue arc with Vince Locke and Trish Mulvihill stepping in to help bring Zulli's pencils to life. The four issues will be retitled, Swamp Thing: 1989. Check out Veitch and Zulli's cover art below. Additionally, Zulli's original cover will also be available as a variant.
