Absolute Superman is soon arriving from DC Comics at CaptCan Comics. And for those used to the iconic origin of the Man of Steel, it’s about to be totally flipped on its head.
In Absolute Superman #1 by Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval, readers are introduced to a new take on the hero from the Absolute Universe. Issue one features Superman in Brazil, as opposed to Kansas City. Additionally, his cape isn’t made of fabric but from the dust of Krypton — making it even more connected to his home planet. Lastly, Superman trades his usual shorter hair for a much longer style. Ultimately, DC is offering a remixed version of the hero that new readers can dive into without knowing the storied lore of the original character.
Absolute Superman #1 features several covers, including Sandoval's main cover art. Jim Lee’s open-order variant showcases the new hero in the talented artist's trademark style. Wes Craig’s valiant sees the hero reaching to the ground with his logo behind him. Clayton Crain draws a variant showing the hero against a white background. Additional variants include Matteo Scalera’s 1:25 variant and 1:50 and 1:100 incentives on Crain and Lee’s covers. Check out Sandoval’s cover art, followed by the text solicit.
