Canadian content is back at Marvel as Alpha Flight is back! The fan-favorite Canadian superteam swings back into action in a brand-new series from the publisher with a great creative team behind it.
The Alpha Flight first debuted in The Uncanny X-Men #120 by John Byrne, Chris Claremont, Terry Austin, Glynis Wein, and Tom Orzechowski in the “Chaos in Canada” storyline, featuring several Canadian heroes' first appearances. Jean-Paul Beaubier (Northstar), Dr. Michael Twoyoungmen (Shaman),l Anne McKenzie (Snowbird), Dr. Walter Langkowski (Sasquatch), and Jeanne-Marier Beaubier (Aurora) all made their debut in the issue, which also starred the most famous Canadian X-Men, Wolverine. Alpha Flight and its heroes would go on to play an important role in the Marvel Universe, with more heroes, including Puck, being introduced to the squad. The team has been on and off-world in recent years, with Alpha Flight returning when chaos erupts within its ranks.
With the Fall of X, Alpha Flight is back in a new series from Canadian writer Ed Brisson, who is working alongside Scott Godlewski and Matt Milla on the five-issue comic. The new series will see the return of several fan-favorite characters. Alpha Flight will have their own schism following Krakoa’s destruction, with the team going up against some of their former teammates, including Northstar, Nemesis, Aurora, and Wolverine’s son, Fang.
The main cover for the series comes from Leonard Kirk and Edgar Delgado, featuring the superteam with shadow outlines behind them.
Javier Garron draws a Marvel Icon variant featuring Daken. Dan Jurgens's homage variant features the Alpha Flight battling against the powerful mutants standing in their way. Rom Lim enters the world of the “Loki” television series with a time-bending cover featuring Miss Minutes. Meanwhile, Arthur Adams’ 1:50 variant features Snowbird as she’s transforming into a different creature. Check out the text synopsis for issue one:
