Black Pantherโs new ongoing series will shift the status quo for the hero, as TโChalla finds himself in Wakanda, but as a fugitive, not a king.
Following the conclusion of John Ridley, German Peralta, and Juann Cabalโs run on Black Panther, the hero found himself an enemy of the Avengers and his own nation after losing their trust following his involvement with a group of sleeper agents across Wakanda. In the present-day timeline, TโChalla has rebuilt his relationship with the Avengers, joining Earthโs Mightiest Heroes in the latest iteration of the superteam in Jed MacKay and C.F. Villaโs โAvengers.โ However, a new series will show his relationship with his home hasnโt been repaired and will find Black Panther in one of his most difficult positions yet.
Eve. L Ewing, Chad Allen, Craig Yeung, and Jesus Aburtov are the creative team behind the new โBlack Pantherโ #1. The new ongoing series will see TโChalla operate in Wakanda, despite being an enemy of the state. But, in his role as the Black Panther, the hero believes heโs a needed presence and will lurk in the shadows to protect his people and home, even without their blessing.
Black Pantherโs new series includes a new redesign for the heroโs costume, new villains, and several new variant covers. Skottie Youngโs Baby variant cover features TโChalla perched on a power line pole in his new costume. Rahzzah draws a gorgeous cover featuring Black Pantherโs iconic costume.
Mr. Garcinโs variant brings together the history of Black Panther into one incredible image. Sanford Greene continues his Howard the Duck series with a variant featuring TโChalla and the pint-sized hero. Chris Allenโs Stormbreaker variant features the Black Panther battling alongside some classic Avengers. Meanwhile, Elena Casagrandeโs โWomen of Marvelโ variant spotlights Shuri.
The incentive ratio covers include a 1:10 variant from Allen featuring a look at Black Pantherโs new costume design. Mateus Mahaniniโs 1:25 variant cover showcases TโChalla in action before a fiery backdrop. Lastly, Steve Rudeโs 1:50 โHidden Gemโ variant features the heroโs more classic look in a fight with one of his greatest villains, Ulysses Klaue.
A KING WITHOUT A CROWN! Banished from the throne and a fugitive in his own homelands, TโChalla still canโt leave Wakanda without its sworn protector. A king without a crown, he finds new purpose lurking the streets and shadows of the Wakandan city that bears his fatherโs name, BIRNIN TโCHAKA. New direction, new villains, new creative teamโget in on the ground floor of Marvelโs next smash hit!
While Eve L. Ewing is still a relative newcomer, the writerโs work on Ironheart, Champions, and Monica Rambeau should excite readers about whatโs coming next in the world of Black Panther.
