The story of BRZRKR is taking a surprising new route, as the Keanu Reeves-penned BRZRKR: Poetry of Madness story will take B’s adventures to Atlantis.
BRZRKR was created by The Matrix actor Keanu Reeves and writer Matt Kindt, featuring an additional creative team of Ron Garney, Bill Crabtree, and Clem Robins, and followed an immortal warrior as he fought through time. The half-mortal, half-god eventually found himself in the present day working for the U.S. Government on missions deemed too dangerous for any other agents. The series was a significant success for BOOM! Studios, with the first issue selling more than 600,000 copies and the 12-issue book being one of the publisher's best-selling comics. The series' success has led to live-action film and anime series being developed with Netflix.
At San Diego Comic-Con, BOOM! Studios shared more details about the next chapter in the BRZRKR universe with a new-one shot from Reeves, writer and artist Steve Skroce (Clobberin’ Time), and colorist Dave Stewart. The one-shot will see B arrive in Atlantis, protecting the underwater city from its biggest threats. However, greater forces at play might prevent him from keeping the nation safe. Check out the text preview below:
A sea of gore and devastation awaits as B, through a fateful chance encounter, safeguards the advanced and ancient realm of Atlantis as its unstoppable protector. But a sickly king serves as a symbol for the rot inside, as the security and bliss created through B's violence is shallow... The cracks created by a secret cult might spell a monstrous end for the legendary city, one beyond even B's ability to save. Renowned filmmaker and record-shattering comic creator Keanu Reeves joins acclaimed writer and artist Steve Skroce (Doctor Strange) for a one-shot special that fans of Lovecraftian horror would be mad to miss!
Once again, the world of BRZRKR is bringing some great names to do covers for the upcoming new story. Skroce brings his signature style to the main cover for BRZRKR: Poetry of Madness’s Cover A. Travis Charest draws the other main cover, with both standard covers also available as foil variants. Charest’s cover will be a 1:10 black and white variant as well. David Aja draws a fantastic 1:25 variant, while David Mack did the artwork for the 1:50 variant that will also be available as a 1:100 foil variant.
For fans of the BRZRKR series, BRZRKR: Poetry of Madness is taking the original concept of the comic and bringing it to a Lovecraftian-like world. With Reeves, Skroce, and Stewart working on the comic, you can bet it’s going to be worth checking out. Don’t forget to order your copy of BRZRKR: Poetry of Madness #1 on CaptCan Comics now!
