Steve Rogers is getting a brand-new series from Marvel Comics, where the popular Marvel hero will continue to fight for what’s right. J. Michael Straczynski (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Jesus Saiz (Punisher) are teaming up for a new story that will focus on different periods for Cap, including his time before becoming a hero. In contrast, the present focuses on his battles against a supernatural villain.
Straczynski told io9 flashbacks in the series will shine a light on the young and skinny Steve before he became Captain America as he dealt with the rise of the American Bund, a 1930s organization run by Nazis to promote the evil organization in the United States. Additionally, the story will highlight Steve’s fight for survival and life on the streets. The story will be juxtaposed against Captain America’s present, where he’s a respected hero and fights a new threat that’s emerged (that’s yet to be revealed).
