Dive into the Past with MOTU: Revolution's New Prequel Series

Masters of the Universe is one of the most popular franchises from the 1980s, remaining incredibly relevant today. Dark Horse Comics is publishing a new MOTU prequel series called “Masters of the Universe Revolution,” which will tie into the events of the current Masters of the Universe: Revolution series on Netflix.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation debuted on Netflix in 2021 following a future timeline where damaged magic across the universe following a deadly battle between He-Man and Skeletor at Castle Grayskull. In He-Man’s absence, Teela sought out the fate of the Sword of Power. In Masters of the Universe: Revolution, He-Man returns as the fight for power continues. With an impressive voice cast including Mark Hamill, Chris Wood, Melissa Benoist, and Lena Headey, MOTU: Revelation and Revolution has been a welcome continuation of the iconic series, taking its heroes and villains in bold new directions.
Dark Horse Comics and Mattel are teaming up for Masters of the Universe: Revolution by Tim Sheridan, Rob David, and Ted Biaselli, with art from Daniel HDR, Keith Champagne, and Brad Simpson and lettering by AndWorld Design. The comic will show some of the earliest days of the MOTU universe and dive deeper into the mythos of Skeletor. So, for those looking for more MOTU lore, you’re in luck!
The four-issue miniseries launches with two covers. The first from Dave Wilkins shows a younger Hordak with Skeletor watching over the general and his forces in the artwork. Tyler Boss’ variant features He-Man wielding his iconic sword, as Skeletor can be seen in the background amongst the cosmos. Check out Boss’ variant below, followed by the text solicit.
