Guardians of the Galaxy: New Western Adventure!

The Guardians of the Galaxy are back in the pages of Marvel Comics. A new series from Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Kev Walker, and Matt Hollingsworth will see the fan-favorite superteam in an all-new Western setting facing off against a familiar friend-turned-foe. In Guardians of the Galaxy #1, Star-Lord and his usual team of antiheroes end up in a lawless world as they try to rebuild what they once had with new threats causing considerable problems for them. As a result, significant changes are coming for the characters, including all-new costumes inspired by their new surroundings.
The upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy roster are inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the team, featuring Star-Lord, Gamora, Nebula, Drax, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. That roster itself was inspired by the 2008 run on the characters, which reinvented the classic team from the 1960s. However, the team has experienced significant hardships in recent comic runs, resulting in the new comic finding them in a more challenging place than usual. On a wasteland planet, the Guardians will be dealing with the betrayal of one of their own members - with teases for the series and the “Grootfall” arc suggesting the loveable tree-like hero is breaking bad. What that means for his best pal Rocket Raccoon is unknown, as the character has been absent from all promotional materials.

Guardians of the Galaxy #1 features some gorgeous covers for the debut issue. Daredevil artist Marco Checchetto draws the main cover for the issue, with Kev Walker drawing a terrifying Grootfall cover. B. Alex Ross “Timeless” series continues with a Doctor Doom cover for the book, with a 1:100 incentive variant being available, featuring the legendary artist's pencils of the work. Additionally, the book will have an Adam Warlock movie variant, an Infinity Saga cover from Aaron Kuder, and a Gamora-starring Derrick Chew variant. Chew’s cover will be available as a virgin 1:50 variant, while Kael Ngu draws the team in a 1:25 variant.
