Indigo Children: New Sci-Fi Mystery from Curt Pires!

Curt Pires (Youth) is working with Image Comics once again for a brand-new series, Indigo Children, which is getting notable comparisons as “Radiant Black” meets “The Department of Truth.” The series follows journalist Donovan Price as he tries to track down the Indigo Children, a group of youngsters who have been missing for more than 15 years. Pires is writing the new comic with Rockwell White, with art by Alex Diotto, colors from Dee Cunliffe, and letters by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou.
Image Comics released a new trailer for Indigo Children, hinting at the sci-fi mystery that will be explored in the upcoming comic as the mystery slowly begins to unfold.
Pires told Forbes.com he wanted to push comic book storytelling while revealing he drew inspiration for Indigo Children from classic sci-fi films by Steven Spielberg. He shared that he’s been working hard on the project for years.
It's been three, almost four, years since we've been working on this thing ... and I can honestly say it's the most perfectionistic I've been on any project,” Pires concludes. “We've written and re-written scripts and tried to push things to their absolute limit. Hopefully, we succeed.
The oversized Indigo #1 will feature variant covers from some of the industry's most acclaimed artists. Issue one features a standard cover from Diotto, a 1:10 variant from Tyler Boss, as well as a 1:25 variant from Tula Lotay. Additionally, superstar artist Jenny Frison is drawing a 1:50 variant, which will also have a 1:75 black-and-white variant.
While Indigo Children hasn’t even hit comic book shelves yet, it’s among the projects from Pires that have already been green-lit for adaptations at major studios. Youth, a 2021 ComiXology miniseries from Pires, Cunliffe, and Diotto, is currently in development at Amazon Studios. Meanwhile, Wyrd, a four-issue series at Dark Horse Comics he created with Antonio Fuso, is currently in development at FX. Indigo Children is reportedly in the early stages of development from producer Jeff Ludwig.
