Jason Aaron's Next Chapter: Batman Off-World!

Jason Aaron’s exclusivity with Marvel is officially over, as the fan-favorite writer is now tackling projects for DC Comics. Among the first titles Aaron’s cooking up is Batman Off-World with artist Doug Mahnke, which takes readers far beyond Gotham City and into outer space to tell a new kind of story featuring Batman in the DC Universe.
Aaron is best known for his work with Marvel Comics with critically acclaimed runs on Punisher, Thor, and Star Wars. However, Aaron’s impressive resume also includes the creator-owned books Scalped and Southern Bastards, and now, he’s writing his first Batman title at DC Comics.
Batman Off-World takes place early in Batman’s career as he’s still learning to be a hero. However, in this new telling of The Dark Knight, the hero realizes that what lurks in space is a much more dangerous threat than what he finds on Earth, leaving him to ascend to the stars and continue his training in the cosmos. The six-issue limited series will see Batman encounter different aliens and learn who he can trust on the fly.
Batman Off-World features main cover art from Mahnke and David Baron, who put Batman in a fiery situation surrounded by aliens — also available as a black and white 1:100 incentive variant. Lesley Leirix Li’s cover features an alien who looks quite like Starfire — but it could be someone else entirely. David Finch draws a realistic Batman variant featuring the hero perched over a gargoyle. Ben Oliver’s 1:25 inventive variant features the Dark Knight shirtless with his cowl ready to fight against his alien opponents. Lastly, Pete Woods' 1:50 variant features an alien (possibly a version of the Joker) holding onto the empty suit of Batman with a menacing smile.
