Jon Kent is flying into his own solo series, The Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent, which will see Superman travel across the Multiverse to take on some powerful foes who are determined to ensure that no Men of Steel exist… in any universe. In the new series from Tom Taylor and Clayton Henry, Superman will face off against Ultraman as Jon Kent ends up in a world that is familiar - but much darker - to his own.
In a new preview for The Adventures of John Kent: Superman #1 from DC Comics, Val-Zod from Earth-Two will recruit Jon Kent to help him stop a deadly threat killing Kal-Els in large numbers. To complicate matters, Ultraman, with whom Jon Kent has a dark history, will also be arriving on the scene - throwing things into even further chaos. Taylor, who helped spearhead the comic book version of Injustice - revealed the new series would tie in directly with the alternate DC Universe. He told CBR he’s excited to bring Kent’s hopefulness to the world of Injustice.
Injustice for me is a very troubled time. I had so much fun on that book. Obviously, I was on it for years. I think I was originally hired for fifteen chapters, and I wrote over 150. But there's a lot about Injustice that rubs me up the wrong way. I don't believe Superman, no matter what happens to him, can become that person. I don't believe Wonder Woman becomes that person. So, for me, it's a really interesting Elseworld, and throwing Jon Kent as sort of that beacon of hope and in a way, quite an innocent character and a character who wants the best for the world, throwing him into that world where his father has become a dictator gives us so much to play with. I've been talking about this story to all my friends who will listen for months, long before we knew where we were going with this.
Taylor has mentioned that the Injustice versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will also appear in the series, which marks a surprise comeback for the characters. Check out the full text solicit for The Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent #1 below.
