Kill Your Darlings: A Rising Star in Image Comics' Illustrious Lineup

Anew Image Comic series has picked up quite a bit of steam as its first issue comes to print, with Kill Your Darlings by newcomers Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sherdian being joined by Bob Quinn (X-Men: Knights of X) and John J. Hill (“Donny Cates’ and Ryan Stegman’s Vanish) earning critical acclaim from reviewers.
Image Comics has published some of the best original, creator-owned comics of the modern era. From the brilliance of Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples’ Saga to the immense success of Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore’s The Walking Dead, Image has consistently released some of the best stories in the medium. Kill Your Darlings hopes to continue the trend of excellence. The comic tells the story of Rose, an eight-year-old whose fantasy world comes to life in a genre-blending tale that sees the youngster end up in a child-like world of sword and sorcery. However, her imagination will see an ancient evil rise, putting Rose on a journey that will take her directly into a centuries-old saga.
The main cover art for Kill Your Darlings #1 comes from Bob Quinn. The artwork features Rose walking across a long path after finding herself in a world that is from her mind but not exactly her own. The cover will be available as a 1:25 variant. Ryan Stegman draws the main variant for issue one, featuring Rose covered in blood, with her white eyes suggesting she’s being possessed. The scene is particularly gruesome, as Rose’s teddy bears have been decapitated with blood leaking from them instead of stuffing. The Stegman cover art is also available as a 1:50 variant in foil.
