Kirby's Starr Warriors: Solar Legion Revived!

A five-page story from Jack Kirby written in the 1940s called Solar Legion is getting a new release with Jack Kirby’s Starr Warriors: Starring Adam Starr and the Solar Legion. The new one-shot will see Tom Scioli (Fantastic Four: Grand Design, I Am Stan: A Graphic Biography of the Legendary Stan Lee) remix the original short story into a full-blown 32-page comic.
Kirby, the legendary and widely influential creator behind some of comic book’s biggest creations, from Captain America, Black Panther, Thor, Hulk, the Fantastic Four, to the New Gods, did his first space epic in Publishing's Crash Comics Adventures #1. The science fiction comic featured the titular Adam Starr and his Solar Legion of Star Warriors in a five-page story taking place in the year 2140 A.D. After a group of space pirates, led by Black Michael, wreaked havoc on the solar system, Starr and his crew took down the villainous actors by bombing them with a blast that rocked Pluto. While the story continued in the subsequent issues of Crash Comic Adventures, Kirby didn’t draw the rest of it. However, over 80 years after Adam Starr and the Solar Legion debuted, they’re getting a brand new tale from Image Comics.
Scioli (who also wrote and drew Jack Kirby: The Epic Life of the King of Comics) is bringing his Kirby-inspired style to a new one-shot that reimagines and extends the original Solar Legion adventure. Jack Kirby’s Starr Warriors: Starring Adam Starr and the Solar Legion will feature Scioli doing classic Kirby, with the comic bringing back the sci-fi Golden Age characters who haven’t been seen in a long while. Scioli bringing a classic Jack Kirby story back to life is a great marriage of creator and property, as the writer and artist has not been shy about how the legendary comic book creator has influenced his previous works.
