Revamped Ultimate Spider-Man: A New Era Begins!

Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto are setting a bold new direction for Spider-Man in the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man series from Marvel Comics. Unlike the current run of The Amazing Spider-Man, the new series will take a closer look at Peter Parker’s family life, with the hero being older than his Earth-616 counterpart, as he has two children with his wife, Mary Jane Watson. For longtime Spider-Man readers, the book offers them something they’ve been waiting years to see in a web-slinger title.
Following the events of the Ultimate Invasion miniseries, a new version of the Ultimate Universe was formed. While the universe has some remnants of the past world, it is choosing to take characters on all new journeys different from their original Ultimate counterparts. So, readers shouldn’t expect a 1:1 revisiting of the old Ultimate Universe. Case in point, Peter Parker will be balancing being Spider-Man with his family life in a book by Hickman and Checchetto, Matt Wilson, and Cory Petit.
Ultimate Spider-Man features several variant covers available at CaptCan Comics. The main cover from Checchetto and Wilson features the hero web-slinging across New York City in the snow — the cover will feature different costume variants, including suits with Spider-Man 2099 and the symbiote Spider-Man. David Marquez and Marte Gracia team up for a stunning wall-crawling variant. Elizabeth Torque draws a happy Peter and MJ entangled in webs and with each other. Mark Bagley, Ryan Stegman, and Nic Klein are among the other artists doing variants for the series. On the incentive side, Checchetto has a 1:10 design variant, taking a closer look at MJ and Peter. Tony S. Daniel’s 1:25 variant features Spider-Man ready to fight. Marquez and Gracia’s 1:100 is a virgin variant of their standard cover. Meanwhile, J. Scott Campbell brings a his signature style for a regular Variant and a Virgin for the 1:500 variant, seen below.
