Spider-Boy: New Sidekick Returns in Solo Series

Spider-Boy is getting his own series as Spider-Man’s new (and old) sidekick is returning in a brand-new series from Dan Slott and Mark Bagley.
Spider-Boy is a new character to the Marvel Universe, but he has an extensive history with Spider-Man… at least, so he claims. When Shathra was defeated in the Spider-Man series by Slott and Bagley, one of the spider-heroes who returned to the Web of Life was revealed to be Spider-Boy. The young hero said he was the sidekick of Spider-Man and that the duo had gone on many adventures before. Sadly, Spider-Man had no recollection of Spider-Boy and didn’t believe his stories. The wallcrawler's real identity was revealed to be Bailey Briggs, who gained his powers in connection with the Spider-Man villain, Mister Negative. Now, Spidey-Boy is set out to be a hero again - and it appears Spider-Man is coming along for the ride.
"Spider-Man isn't supposed to have a sidekick. That's just wrong on so many levels. And that is exactly why we are going to have so much fun with this," Dan Slott told Marvel.com in a press release. "Both this character—and this new title—are going to break all the rules.”
Spider-Boy’s debut series features some stellar artists working on covers for issue one: Humberto Ramos and Edgar Delgado team up for the main cover featuring the hero climbing up a wall. Chris Campana, Mark Morales, and Morry Hollowell’s variant feature Spider-Man perched on a gargoyle statue with Spider-Boy looking at him while sticking underneath him. John Tyler Christopher draws a gorgeous negative space variant featuring the hero's red and blue costume. And in one of the most exciting covers revealed so far, Hawkeye artist David Aja draws Spider-Boy jumping across the skyline. The cover is a 1:50 incentive variant, available at CaptCan Comics upon release.
There are still a few covers to be revealed, including a Skottie Young variant and an unannounced foil and artist homage variant!
