Spider-Man India: New Series Spotlights Pavitr Prabhakar!

Spider-Man India is back in action in the pages of Marvel Comics as a brand-new limited series will shine a light back on Pavitr Prabhakar.
The Spider-Man of India has been a part of the Spider-Verse for almost two decades, with the character first debuting in Spider-Man: India #1 back in 2004. Created by Jeevan J. Kang, Suresh Seetharaman, and Sharad Devarajan, Pavtir hails from Earth-50101, where he becomes a web-slinger after being given spider powers by a mystical yogi. As Spider-Man in Mumbai, the hero took on several reimagined villains from the main Spider-Man Universe, including a goblin monster, Nalin Oberoi (Norman Osborn), a demonic version of Doctor Octopus, and later a giant-sized, six-armed version of Venom.
Spider-Man India recently gained relevance again after making his big screen debut in the animated Across: The Spider-Verse film. Prabhakar played a vital role in the film's events, including seeing his jaw-dropping home during a trip to his world. That version of Spider-Man India had a different design and world but was based on his comic counterpart. With the character back in the spotlight, Marvel is launching a new Spider-Ma: India comic from Nikesh Shukla and Abhishek Malsuniseries, which will see the hero take on a version of the Lizard, who is attempting to wreak havoc in Mumbai.
Spider-Man: India #1 features several great variant covers. Adam Kubert draws Spider-Man India on the main cover, with Todd Nauck showing both sides of the hero in a headshot variant. Artist Doaly draws an animation variant featuring Pavitr Prabhakar climbing on his unique webbing.
Sumit Kumar and Ron Lim draw two unique variants featuring the hero swinging into action, with Ant-Man artist Tom Reilly illustrating a gorgeous “Windowshades” variant featuring Spider-Man India.
Mahmud Asrar’s 1:25 incentive ratio variant features Pavitr Prabhakar traversing Mumbai's streets, much to the chagrin of the people below.
It’s great to see Spider-Man India return in his own title at Marvel Comics.
