Stargirl Finale: Lost Sidekicks & Time-Merged Heroes Return!

Stargirl: The Lost Children’s finale has ended with a massive revelation, as several Golden Age sidekicks lost in time have found themselves in the main DC Universe.
Following the events of Flashpoint, thirteen heroes were pulled from history and forgotten by everyone in the present-day timeline. Among them included the daughter of The Flash: Judy Garrick, the sidekick of the Human Bomb: Cherry Bomb, Salem the Witch Girl, and Mister Terrific’s sidekick: Quiz Kid. After the lost children were sent back into history before the timeline was fully fixed, the villainous Childminder captured them and placed them on Orphan Island. On the island where time was mysteriously frozen, Childminder wanted to siphon their youth. She worked alongside a future android version of the Golden Age hero Hourman to ensure their capture. Now, DC Comics is sharing the fate of the lost sidekicks while teasing an all-new team at the same time.
In Stargirl: The Lost Children #6 by Geoff Johns, Todd Nauck, Matt Herms, and Rob Leigh from DC Comics, the young heroes, led by Stargirl, band together to stop the Childminder. However, during Courtney Whitmore’s attempts to convince Hourman to join them against the monster, it’s revealed his master, a future version of Corky Baxter, one of the children on the island and a member of the Time Masters, was the man behind everything. Wanting to fix time, the older Corky planned on eliminating the sidekicks while revealing his younger version had a secret mission, too: He needed to make sure Wing, the sidekick of the Crimson Avenger, sacrificed himself in an act that would save the universe and time itself.
With a time storm fully raging on, the younger Corky carries on his mission and throws Wing inside the cosmic chaos. Stargirl tries to save him by extending her staff, but Wing realizes his fate is forever tied to saving the world. He reveals Childmindter pulled him to Orphan Island right about as he was going to stop a villain called the Nebula Man from destroying the universe. Wing accepts his dark destiny and saves his fellow heroes by falling into the storm. As a result, the young sidekicks are freed and are introduced in the main timeline.
The sidekicks try to find new purpose unstuck from time without their mentors— who are mostly long dead. However, the comic has one small happy ending: Judy Garrick meets with her dad, The Flash. But, in a glimpse at the Time Lab, there are clues about what’s coming next for the lost heroes. Readers can see the words “Young Justice Society” written on a chalkboard, as the issue ends with the tease, “for more of Stargirl and the Young Justice Society, check out Justice Society of America #6 - which Johns is also the writer. Solicitations for the issue tease Stargirl and the lost children meeting with the Justice Society of America, as the full meeting between Judy and Jay Garrick will be revealed.
Johns has always been passionate about the Justice Society of America, but with the introduction of a potential Young Justice Society of America, the talented DC Comics writer has opened up a new avenue of possible stories to explore. Can the lost heroes find meaning in a world they were literally ripped from? And will Helena Wayne’s adventures across different timelines eventually lead members of the YJSA back to their mentors?
