Storm #1: Mohawked Mutant Guides X-Men in 1980s Throwback!

Marvel Comics is taking readers back to the 1980s in Storm #1 by comic book legend Ann Nocenti and artist Sid Kotian, as the mohawked Omega Mutant stars in a new story taking place in one of the most popular times for the X-Men.
In Storm #1, Ororoe Munroe leads Marvel’s mutants, trying to teach them the proper way to fight together. However, with Rogue, Colossus, and Kitty Pryde still learning the best techniques and strategies to battle against the Brotherhood of Mutants, Storm is forced to interject and direct the team by giving them clear instructions on how they should have handled the situation. She informs Rogue she doesn’t need to showboat, even when battling her mother, Mystique. She tells Colossus that despite his incredible strength, he needs more finesse and less singular focus. Meanwhile, Storm shares with Kitty Pryde she could learn from Nightcrawler and obey her orders, much to the chagrin of Shadowcat.
The issue features Storm struggling with her own powers as she deals with the rebellious Kitty Pryde, who defies her at every turn while questioning her leadership position. But when she goes to a pier to clear her head, she continues to lose control of her powers, accidentally creating a giant hail storm that locals attribute to her, calling her out as a villain. A mysterious new character arrives on the scene, claiming he rules the skies. After battling in a tornado, Storm is overcome by her opponent’s powers, with Storm #1 ending with her plunging into the water.
