Thompson's 'Birds of Prey #1': DC's Iconic Heroines with Fresh Twists

Kelly Thompson’s next book is here as a new Birds of Prey series takes the iconic team and puts a new twist on them. In Birds of Prey #1, Dinah Lance finds herself needing assistance and making house calls to some of the most beloved and powerful female heroes in the DC Universe.
The new Birds of Prey series from Thompson, Leonardo Romero, and Jordie Bellaire will introduce a new version of the team. The following characters will join Dinah Lance:
Cassandra Cain: The silent and deadly Batgirl who is among the best fighters in the DC Universe.
Big Barda: A New God with an insane amount of power and a knack for taking out larger-than-life villains.
Harley Quinn: A wild card who is looking to do good and help Dinah rescue a common ally.
Zealot: From the Wildstorm Universe, Zealot is another powerhouse with several impressive abilities and fighting skills.

hose five heroes will be joined by a surprise face who makes a shocking appearance at the end of the issue. For fans of Gotham Academy, you’ll want to check this one out!
Birds of Prey #1 features a series of talented artists doing covers for the book. The main cover from Leonardo Romero and Jordie Bellaire features the primary team, also available in a neon 1:100 variant. Chris Bachalo’s team-starring cover has a standard variant and a 1:50 black and white cover. Frank Cho has a triptych connecting cover, while Nick Bradshaw draws Black Canary kicking butt in the 1:25 incentive cover.
