Tom King's Unexpected Dive: A Fresh Take on Wonder Woman's Tale!

Tom King is surprising readers with his latest choice in characters to tackle in the DC Universe with the talented writer teaming up with Daniel Sampere, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles for a brand-new Wonder Woman ongoing series that puts Diana Prince back into the spotlight at DC Comics.
King is best known for his work on Batman and his writing deconstructing more niche characters in the DC Universe. From Mister Miracle with Mitch Gerads to Strange Adventures with Gerads and Shaner to Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow with Bilquis Evely, King has managed to make a notable imprint on characters who hadn’t been given major treatment in the DC Universe during the time of the comic book’s release. With the author currently tackling Danger Street and The Penguin for DC Comics, it came as a surprise his next ongoing series would be Wonder Woman - However, King is bringing something new to the project.
The new Wonder Woman book will see Diana Prince try to figure out what happened outside Themisycyra when an Amazonian is linked to a brutal murder that leads to the U.S. Government banning all Amazonians from U.S. soil. It will be up to Wonder Woman to figure out what actually happened as she deals with the political and personal fallout of the ban. The comic will reflect and comment on the real world through the lens of superheroes.
Wonder Woman #1 has several awesome new covers, including a main one from Sampere and Morey, also available as a black-and-white 1:100 variant. Ariel Diaz shows off Wonder Woman’s strength in a powerful variant. Stanley “Artgerm” Lau brings his signature style to his portrait of Diana. Julian Totino Tedesco draws one of the best variants we’ve seen in a while with this fantastic cover featuring Wonder Woman riding a kangaroo.
Rose Besch’s cartoon-inspired cover is fittingly colorful. Chris Bachalo’s foil variant shows off Diana’s unafraid nature. Matteo Scalera draws a fierce 1:25 incentive variant, while Mikel Janin’s card stock variant features the hero jumping into action.
