Refund policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Who you're buying from

CaptCan Comics Inc., 466 Elgin Street, Brantford, Ontario N3S 7P8, Canada. Phone: (519) 770-9875. Email: orders@captcancomics.ca.

Prices are in Canadian dollars. Sales tax and shipping are added before you pay. US orders also carry brokerage and any duties, which are charged by the carrier.

Your order

  • Your order confirmation email shows we received your order and is your copy of the purchase. Keep it.
  • We may cancel an order before it ships or is picked up, with a full refund, if the book was mispriced or listed in error, was oversold, or if we can't verify the payment or suspect fraud.
  • We may limit quantities per customer or household, including on Pre-Sales and new releases.
  • You are responsible for the shipping address and email on your account. Check them before every Hold Box shipment.

Changing or cancelling an order

Sales are final, with one exception for a change of mind. Contact us before your order ships or, for Hold Box orders, within 7 days of the books landing in your Hold Box. If we can still pull the order, we refund the price of the books less a 15% restocking fee.

After 7 days in your Hold Box, or once an order has shipped, the sale is final.

Pre-Sales, special orders and consignment books can't be cancelled for a change of mind at any stage.

If a book arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered

  1. Contact us within 3 business days of delivery or pickup.
  2. Send clear photos of the book, the packaging and the shipping label.
  3. Keep the book and all the packaging until we reply. The carrier may need to inspect them.

If we sent the wrong book, or it was damaged in transit, we replace it when we have an equal copy and refund you when we don't. You can take store credit instead if you prefer. We pay the return shipping when the error is ours.

Returns

  • Every return needs our authorization first. Books sent back without it may be refused.
  • Send the book back within 14 days of authorization, packed as securely as it arrived.
  • The book must come back in the condition we shipped it. We can't accept a book that has been pressed, cleaned, signed, removed from its slab or submitted for grading since it left us.
  • Refunds go to your original payment method within 10 business days of the book reaching us. Shipping you paid is refunded only when the error is ours.
  • CaptCan Cash spent on a refunded order goes back to your account. CaptCan Cash earned on it is removed.

What can't be returned for a change of mind

  • Pre-Sales
  • Special orders
  • Consignment books
  • Books that have been in your Hold Box more than 7 days
  • Books accurately described and shipped in the condition shown

Pre-Sales

Pre-Sales let you reserve upcoming new releases before they arrive at our warehouse.

Release dates and cover art

The release date on a Pre-Sale is the publisher's estimate when we list the book. It is not a delivery promise from us. Publishers move dates often, and we update the listing when they do.

If a release date moves more than 30 days past the date shown when you ordered, you can cancel that book for a full refund any time before it ships or lands in your Hold Box.

Cover art, creative teams and contents can change before publication. We ship the book the publisher releases. If the publisher cancels a cover or swaps it for a different one, we refund that book.

Condition

We don't ship Pre-Sales below NM- by our own grading. If the distributor sends us damaged copies, your order waits for replacements. If replacements aren't available, we refund the book.

New books come straight from the distributor. We don't guarantee the grade a grading company would give them.

All Pre-Sales are final sale

We order from the publisher based on your Pre-Sale, so Pre-Sales can't be cancelled or refunded once placed. We refund a Pre-Sale only when:

  • the publisher cancels the book,
  • we receive fewer copies than we ordered and yours can't be filled, or
  • the release date moves more than 30 days, as described above.

When we are shorted, we fill orders in the order they were placed and refund the rest.

We may limit or reduce quantities on high-demand books and incentive covers. Any copies we can't supply are refunded.

Shipping and pickup

An order with both in-stock books and Pre-Sales ships when every book in it has been released. To get in-stock books sooner, place a separate order or use your Hold Box.

Pre-Sales can't be picked up before the official release date.

CGC-graded Pre-Sales

  • We submit the book to CGC after it is released. The estimated date on the listing reflects CGC's turnaround, which we don't control.
  • If the book grades below the grade you ordered, you choose a full refund or the lower grade at an adjusted price.
  • The grade and the case are CGC's. Light case marks are normal and are not a reason for return.

Special orders

Special order books aren't in our warehouse. They usually reach us in about ten days, and availability can change. Special orders follow the same rules as Pre-Sales: final sale, refunded only if we can't supply the book.

Nothing in these policies takes away rights that consumer protection law gives you and that can't be waived.
