  • Lucy is raised by her older sister Kate, and has a crush on Kate's boyfriend Jeff. After attending business college for a year, a more mature Lucy goes home for a visit and Jeff falls in love with her. Kate learns of this and leaves. Lucy and Jeff are worried, but some time later Kate comes back, with a new, rich husband. Now Lucy and Jeff can get married with clear consciences.
  • Judy travels to Lortonville to work on her uncle's newspaper. The town is dominated by the wealthy Lorton family: Derek is the "wild son." Judy's co-worker Ken warns her that Derek is "poison to girls" but she thinks he's prejudiced against rich people. Judy dates Derek; his politician father asks Judy to warn him if the newspaper plans to publish any "ugly gossip" about the family. When Derek hits a boy with his car and drives away, he demands Judy keep this a secret. She refuses and Ken defends her against Derek: Judy realizes she loves Ken.
  • Office worker Ann tries to attract the attention of handsome architect Bart by acting sophisticated and chic, but he pays no attention to her. At the company picnic Bart tells Ann that he was attracted to her from the first but prefers "a girl to be her natural, sweet self." Ann says she'll be herself from now on and Bart likes that.
