Black Pantherβs new ongoing series will shift the status quo for the hero, as TβChalla finds himself in Wakanda, but as a fugitive, not a king.
Following the conclusion of John Ridley, German Peralta, and Juann Cabalβs run on Black Panther, the hero found himself an enemy of the Avengers and his own nation after losing their trust following his involvement with a group of sleeper agents across Wakanda. In the present-day timeline, TβChalla has rebuilt his relationship with the Avengers, joining Earthβs Mightiest Heroes in the latest iteration of the superteam in Jed MacKay and C.F. Villaβs βAvengers.β However, a new series will show his relationship with his home hasnβt been repaired and will find Black Panther in one of his most difficult positions yet.
Eve. L Ewing, Chad Allen, Craig Yeung, and Jesus Aburtov are the creative team behind the new βBlack Pantherβ #1. The new ongoing series will see TβChalla operate in Wakanda, despite being an enemy of the state. But, in his role as the Black Panther, the hero believes heβs a needed presence and will lurk in the shadows to protect his people and home, even without their blessing.
Black Pantherβs new series includes a new redesign for the heroβs costume, new villains, and several new variant covers. Skottie Youngβs Baby variant cover features TβChalla perched on a power line pole in his new costume. Rahzzah draws a gorgeous cover featuring Black Pantherβs iconic costume.
Mr. Garcinβs variant brings together the history of Black Panther into one incredible image. Sanford Greene continues his Howard the Duck series with a variant featuring TβChalla and the pint-sized hero. Chris Allenβs Stormbreaker variant features the Black Panther battling alongside some classic Avengers. Meanwhile, Elena Casagrandeβs βWomen of Marvelβ variant spotlights Shuri.
The incentive ratio covers include a 1:10 variant from Allen featuring a look at Black Pantherβs new costume design. Mateus Mahaniniβs 1:25 variant cover showcases TβChalla in action before a fiery backdrop. Lastly, Steve Rudeβs 1:50 βHidden Gemβ variant features the heroβs more classic look in a fight with one of his greatest villains, Ulysses Klaue.
A KING WITHOUT A CROWN! Banished from the throne and a fugitive in his own homelands, TβChalla still canβt leave Wakanda without its sworn protector. A king without a crown, he finds new purpose lurking the streets and shadows of the Wakandan city that bears his fatherβs name, BIRNIN TβCHAKA. New direction, new villains, new creative teamβget in on the ground floor of Marvelβs next smash hit!
While Eve L. Ewing is still a relative newcomer, the writerβs work on Ironheart, Champions, and Monica Rambeau should excite readers about whatβs coming next in the world of Black Panther.
